Microsoft announces official name of new browser

Although Microsoft's upcoming browser has been called "Project Spartan," this is an unofficial name representing a work in progress. Now, multiple sources have reported that Microsoft has finally released the official name of the new browser: "Edge."  Because it begins with the same first letter as its predecessor browser, Internet Explorer, CNN Money noted that the icon will be similar.

The company made the announcement at its Microsoft Build 2015 conference, where it described the predicted functions for this browser option, the dominant one that will take the lead in Microsoft's offerings while Explorer becomes a legacy option.

Edge is, according to the source, expected to be an environment that adapts easily to different apps as they are developed, in order to expand the focus of the software and make it more accessible to different device users. The CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, described the greater implications of Microsoft 10 at the event.

"Windows 10 represents a new generation of Windows built on an era of more personal computing, where the mobility of the experience is what matters — not the mobility of the device," he said. "We want people to go from meeting Windows to choosing Windows to loving Windows."

According to Gizmodo, the VP of Microsoft, Joe Belfiore, was also present and said the name was chosen to represent "the edge" of the latest technology, as well as the modern advantages of the internet that the system will push toward.

With the new Microsoft internet browsers being designed for use on multiple devices, including mobile devices, user companies need to have a wide-ranging solution that is ready for this further availability. For developers and companies who need the connectivity of this option, as well as the functions associated with their mainframes, a web based terminal emulator will be compatible with Microsoft programs and help keep enterprise operations running smoothly.
