While the private cloud is clearly an important factor in many modern business processes, there is still some resistance when it comes to successfully transitioning to a virtual environment.
Writing for BizTech, Jim Rapoza of the Aberdeen Group recently highlighted the ways deploying a private cloud could help companies increase efficiency and bring their virtual servers under control.
This is increasingly necessary, because, as his company discovered in a survey, more than half of organizations don't feel that they have the expertise necessary for cloud deployment. Although it requires planning and proper implementation, Rapoza says that ultimately the pros of private cloud use outweigh the cons.
Not only do organizations reduce their IT expenses when they use a private cloud, overall use of applications becomes easier. They don't necessarily differ that much from the public cloud in architecture but private clouds lend enterprises more control over virtual servers and the means to make informed decisions about data processes.
"A private cloud empowers end users, making it possible for them to log in to a private cloud portal and request the application they need — which meets all company technology, security and compliance requirements — without anyone in IT having to lift a finger," Rapoza says.
More money is being invested in cloud technology, so the means of connecting to private clouds could be more prevalent soon. A report from IDC released this November predicted a total expenditure of more than $127 billion in cloud services over the next four years alone. They also found that most of this will be due to Software as a Service solutions.
Stay on track for modernization with the help of virtual tools for accessing legacy applications in-browser. These simple options are an affordable addition to a standard private cloud deployment plan.
