At this point, many companies may be familiar with the Bring Your Own Device concept, or BYOD. But there is a different tweak to that acronym, according to InformationWeek: BYOC, or Bring Your Own Cloud.
The concept behind this is that different departments of a company use private cloud-based functionality the same way they do individual devices. IW's Chris Kemp argues that this trend could have its advantages, although there are also potential security hurdles to worry about. Ultimately, though, Kemp believes it really is the way of the future.
"CIOs who deploy private clouds now still have an opportunity to get ahead of these risks, but time is running out," he said. "BYOC is a trend that is here to stay."
An article in BetaNews takes a more critical look at the push to specify clouds for the companies that use them. The article points out that mobile systems have to find a way to both be accessible to users and fully in the grasp of IT departments to help fight against security problems.
Migrating your mainframe access to utilize one of these "private clouds" might seem arduous if you don't have the right software to make it a reality. Inventu's mainframe terminal emulation solution, Flynet Viewer, can help you evolve and apply the security standards and levels of access expected by today's internet users to systems that may not have had that much foresight built into them when they were created.
Simplicity coupled with the kind of system you can easily exercise control over might both be in reach if you move to the right terminal emulation software.
