If you have the Inventu Viewer Device Printing feature active, your host printing may require PCL-to-PDF Functionality.
For ASCII Terminal types this is almost always the case--for TN5250 or TN3270, it depends on your host printer definitions.
How PCL-to-PDF works for Inventu Viewer is through the use of a 3rd Party PCL-to-PDF converter. Due to licensing restrictions, Inventu cannot integrate a converter directly but have tested and can recommend the GhostScript open source tool, which is also available with a commercial (paid) license.
1.The sample scripts are designed to work with a PDF conversion utility
2.A good, open source PDF engine that has been tested is GhostScript and related components
3.For customers requiring a commercial fully supported setup, contact Artifex Software Inc. for a GhostPCL license at sales@artifex.com
4.For PCL to PDF, the GhostPCL open source product is required which can be downloaded from https://www.ghostscript.com/download/gpcldnld.html (there are 32bit and 64bit version of the PCL converter) -- this is distributed as a ZIP --
5.Create a folder c:\program files\gs if not there
6.Unzip the contents of the downloaded zip to the c:\program files\gs (for example, gostpcl-10.0.0-2win64)
7.Rename to c:\program files\gs\ActiveVersion (if ActiveVersion already there, rename to prior version first)
8.The open source version of full Ghostsript for use by single installations (not commercially distributed) can be downloaded from http://www.ghostscript.com/download/gsdnld.html selecting the 64 bit GPL Release -- this is not needed for simple PCL to PDF but is needed for printing PDF files in an automated fashion
The PCL-to-PDF sample batch file will already be installed on your Inventu Viewer folder (this is designed to work with the Ghostscript utility but can be modified to work with other tools).
