As described in the previous section, you can interact with a live session using the View or Open Session Context Menu Actions. When one of these is selected, the built-in Terminal Emulator is displayed.
At the time of this writing, the emulator will save your settings but not differentiate between protocols (like the FVTerm emulator will with keyboard mapping). So you may want to use the Ctrl- or Alt- modifications on things like the PageUp and PageDown keys. Some protocols like 5250 support the actual key, while typically with 3270 the PageUp is a PF7 and PageDown is PF8.
When opened, the built-in Terminal Emulator looks like this:
Note that the cursor location will be highlighted with a solid rectangle as well as a floating Row and Column indicator. This helps when you might want to use the built-in emulator while editing scripts or other actions where the Row and Column of a field is needed.
Starting in 2023, the MMC Built-In Emulator provides access to the same keyboard settings as the Recorder V2.0 (which shares the same emulator component). To change the keyboard settings, click on the "Change Keys" button in the lower right:
This will display the Keyboard settings dialog accessed in the Recorder using a Pull-Down Menu:
The easiest way to remap a key is to use the Box in the upper right-click into it with the left mouse button and press a key (Like the PageUp key):
As the above image displays, you can then double-click on one of the settings for the found key and change--like Shift-PageUp will send a PF7.
After mapping the keys you want, use the OK button to save. This will be saved on disk to the c:\programdata\[inventu/flynet]\Admin\FVTermKeys.cfg file. If you customize your built-in terminal emulator keyboard on one PC, you can copy this file to another PC to gain the same keyboard customization.
