Short Description IELUA.EXE Crash
Entered By: RayWas When: 2000-09-14 10:18:10 Build: 2.0.7C GA
Categories Type: Problem   Department: Product   Category: Troubleshooting
Description
I've seen this happen a couple of times now and can't
determine the cause. I try to go to the console and it is
hung up. I go look at the screen on the server and there
is a dialog box indicating IELUA.EXE caused an exception.
I restart screensurfer and everything is fine again. We
looked in the event log and could not determine anything
from it. Just the crash and a few scattered screen
transition problems. Any suggestions on where to start?

When you say that when you restart the Screensurfer service
everything is fine again, how long does the service remain
active before it fails? Is there a sequence of events that
you consistently perform before the service goes down?

Could you explain a bit more about the environment you are
running Screensurfer in? What operating system are you
running Screensurfer on? What service pack do you have
loaded?

Per this ticket, it shows that you are using Screensurfer
version 2.0.7C GA, is this truly the version that is having
this problem? If you have a test machine, you might want
to try to download the newest version of ielua.exe from our
ftp site at:

ftp://www.screensurfer.com/t2_0_10t.zip

Unzip the contents to your \screensurfer\bin directory.

We are running Screensurfer on NT 4.0 Server. The SS
version on the ticket (2.0.7C GA) is the version pulled
right from the console screen. This was intially happening
on our test box, which we have some other things running
on. I figured something else running on the box was
conflicting. This morning it happened on one of our
production boxes, where Screensurfer is essentially the
only thing the server is being used for.

I haven't noticed any particular sequence of events that is
causing it to happen. I was hoping you have seen this
happen before and have some suggestions on where to start
looking. I could send the core dump if that would be
useful.
