Description

I've noticed that certain characters don't display on the browser the same as on the tn3270 screen. An example is the '!' which displays as a ']'. I wondered if it's possible to modify the character translation table.
Thanks,
Bob

It is certainly possible to modify the translation table-- but this is the first time the exclamation has been reported to be off, and we have many active users...can you please start Screensurfer in diagnostic mode, get to a screen where this is occuring and when it displays send your \screensurfer\hostserver\surfdiag.log file (zipped) to surfer@ieinc.com?
Refer to Support Ticket #310 in the subject.
We can get you a fix along with a sample translation table probably tomorrow sometime...thanks!

I emailed the log you requested. In reproducing this situation I noticed that it doesn't happen consistently. In fact, it seems that only 1 transaction causes it. Could this be possible?
Thanks,
Bob

It really depends on the presence of the "!" character-- we discovered that our EBCDIC-to-ASCII table was based on the Hewlett Packard standard (I have no idea why!!!)-- this has been fixed, and the fix is available at:
ftp://ftp.ieinc2.com/pub/surfer/t2_0_4F.zip
Unzip to replace \screensurfer\bin\ielua.exe...
Other characters that were fixed include the "^", "]" and "[" characters (this is a forever conflicting area of EBCDIC to ASCII)...
