Short Description Upgrading production to new screensurfer server

Description
Greetings,
I am planning on upgrading our production sytem to version 1.03.27 core (10/20) with ielua.exe 28L of the SS server from 1.03.15c core (06/23) and ielua.exe 25d.
I was wondering if it was possible to revert back to the old version of screensurfer server software in case the upgrade does not go well? I would expect a simple re-installation of the server to solve this problem, but I wanted to be sure.
Thanks,
-jason

Comment You can go back without a problem-- there is a 28M that has some additional fixes that we would recommend for the upgraded.

The one thing to watch-out for is Service Pack 4-- this won't work with 1.3.15-- you need 1.3.27 or higher.

Comment Jason--(and/or Will)--

A recent discovery makes it important that you go to build 1.3.28R (ftp://ftp.ieinc2.com/pub/surfer/T1_3_28R.zip).

If your initial connection page is over 4K in HTML, it can lead to users acquiring other user's connections (fixed in build R). This is due to a change in how the connection sessionkey cookie was delivered and affects most of build 1.3.28...

Comment Thanks for letting us know! That could be really bad situation. :)

The new server appears to be quicker and more stable (since we migrated to 1.3.28R) however I am noticing that the Java applet that loads when doing a "Details" inspection of various connections, sometimes crashes the browser (Netscape 4.5) or gives the error:

"Invalid SSCheck Protocol-!-23..."
The crashing doesn't appear to happen as often if I use Internet Explorer, but since we are a Netscape Shop, I prefer to stick to that browser.

ps. Sorry for sticking this in here...I can start a new thread if you like.

Comment Was viewing the above message and noticed that the browser is hiding a couple HTML tags in the error, it should look like this:

Invalid SSCheck Protocol-<HTML><head>!-23...

Comment You probably don't need the SSSynch applet-- you can disable with REGEDIT-- update:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Intelligent Environments/Screensurfer/Config/SynchType

And change the value from 1 to 0.

Thanks for the heads-up, we are planning some fixes/enhancements to SSSynch and your input is appreciated.

By the way, any time you want to preserve all your HTML in a SupportTicket without a lot of work, just bracket the HTML with a <PRE> and </PRE> tag, then use the "FixSampleCode" button on the ticket entry screen-- the SupportCenter includes some JavaScript to go through and change all your "less than" symbols to &lt; text...
