Since my setup is frames-based, I can no longer take advantage of the DevCenter development environment, since any reference to top.whatever tries to resolve with the top frame of the DevCenter. However, if there were a check-box that allowed me to completely bypass the existing templates (all of them, including global), I would still be able to take advantage of that environment. Of course, it would be sort of a one-shot deal, since the first time I built a template, in order to test it, I'd have to use the templates again, thereby going back to frames. Maybe you can think of another solution? (other than changing all my top. references to parent. references - not always possible).

I would suggest a unit-development directory that has a vanilla global.stml file in it--change your active directory to this one for compiles, then create your new screen maps into a newscreen.stml (or something like that).
Then, you can gain the benefits of the SupportCenter for screen mapping without having your execution environment getting in the way.
When a new screen map is ready, you then cut & paste to your full environment for integration testing.
