Is there anyway to speed up the initial connection to the mainframe aside from the teconnected tag?
Connecting to our mainframe through a 3270 client takes about a second or so, but when connecting through screensurfer, it takes at least 5-10 seconds at times. I tested these on the same machine one after the other.

Are you talking about popping-up the first screen, or how long it takes to display the gold logon?
It sounds like your first Screensurfer screen is the gold logon, after Screensurfer navigates through all the system selection screens. To get a true picture, you would just have a directory with a stock global.stml with a TECONNECTED for your system's first screen.
