I specified thehttp log file name root as
d:\goldlog and the http log file frequency as daily. When i look in the directory d:\goldlog, there's nothing in there. This is after i have made some calls to screensurfer.
Also for log file, i specified
d:\goldlogin\users.txt for the log file name and for session id to log, I typed *. But when i save the setting and go back to check the settings again, the * has been changed to -1. Any ideas?

Check for a file named d:\goldlog19981023.log or something like that. The "root" needs a file name stub along with the path.

It doesn't exist. I checked the registry and the value for HttpLogFile is exactly the same file name you mentioned above. But I checked my d drive and it's not there.
Also, what does "Keep" means in the http log file setting.

Make sure you run enough hits on Screensurfer so that the log file gets created? If you do a few, then use the Console Settings page to apply (don't need any changes), the log file is closed, and maybe then will appear.
You may also need to change the root to something with a stub on on it, rather than off the root directory (not sure if this does anything). There may be something funny going on otherwise.

And there is no d:\goldlog19981026.log file? It does buffer hits, so you may need to stop screensurfer or another way to "flush" the log is to bring-up the Console Settings page and then just submit it (don't need to change anything--nothing will get changed), as this will also flush the file.
