TN3270 Connection
|
Description
|
We have our production system configured with TN3270E support. Screensurfer will not connect properly in this configuration.
Apparently Screensurfer is TN3270 only, and our production system requires TN3270E.

While TN3270E systems are supposed to "drop-down" and support the lower functionality of TN3270, we are guessing that perhaps LU indentification is required for your production system.
We have a planned enhancement which will incorporate the ability to map userID or IP address of requester to specific LU's in either SNA Server or TN3270 environments.
At that time, we will also add the TN3270E negotiation for connection along with optional LU mapping.

Well, it took a while, but the TN3270E support is now in and available at a fixpak at ftp://ftp.ieinc2.com/pub/surfer/t1_3_19c.zip.
Unzip into \screensurfer\bin to replace the ielua.exe file.
The TEACTION CONNECT tag also now has support to enable requests for specific LU's using the TN3270E or SNA Server connections. With SurferScript and an optional ODBC database, you can now map a user to a specific logical unit as part of that user's logon.
To request a specific LU with the TEACTION CONNECT, simply append the LU to the group name, as in:
<TEACTION CONNECT "LU_GROUP_2:LU200305">
Note that the literal LU200305 in the example could just as easily be the value of a simple text variable or an ODBC result row variable.
