Any time there is a screen with a message that you may want to return to the calling program, you should map the field on that part of the screen starting with the text "Message".
The generated code includes a routine that enumerates the active screen's fieldmaps for any field with a name starting with "Message" and returns the text in the field along with a return code indicating warning/error.
