While Jupiter already had various technologies and procedures in place to automate the inspection and permitting processes, the MobileHWY INSPECTORT solution offered the opportunity to balance the inspector workload, service inspections in the field immediately, and reduce the overall administrative tasks that were assigned to inspectors. Using the Inventu Designer Studio's Web Service Generator, the HTE-based AS400 Application was published by Inventu for integration with INSPECTOR.

The Building Department has deployed the mobile workforce solution to eliminate paper-based processes and enhance customer service.
Jupiter, like many communities in Florida, has experienced unprecedented growth over the last 20 years, almost quadrupling their population. In doing so, they have surpassed communities smaller than them to become one of the largest incorporated municipalities in Palm Beach County and recent studies predict another 33% increase in population from 2004 into 2010. Managing this growth and maintaining their vision to "Preserve our Unique Character and Vibrant, Small-Town Feel" is a challenge that the Building Department takes seriously.
While Jupiter already had various technologies and procedures in place to automate the inspection and permitting processes, the MobileHWY INSPECTORT solution offered the opportunity to balance the inspector workload, service inspections in the field immediately, and reduce the overall administrative tasks that were assigned to inspectors.
Jupiter utilizes a permitting and inspection application developed by SunGard HTE running on their IBM AS/400 / iSeries host system. MobileHWY partnered with Inventu, which provides a unique interfacing toolset known as FlyNet to enable easy integration to the IBM AS/400. This marriage of technologies has allowed Jupiter to deploy a cost effective laptop-based mobile solution that supports connected and disconnected operation. Roger Held, Deputy Building Official for the Building Department, states, "We needed a solution that worked with all the systems we already had in place but would also be easy to adopt for our field inspectors. Improving customer service and turning around information faster was important but MobileHWY also proved that the system can be easy to use too."

The Building Department has deployed the solution to 15 inspectors in the field already.
